I started something yesterday…not sure why really, think I was just rockin out in my car on the way home and thought…why not?
- Call someone…you must get their voicemail
- Let the song play into the voicemail…you have to do this 90’s style by holding it up to the speaker…no fancy technology tricks, good ol’ boom box with a tape player style. You know…you maybe did this for the crush you had in school…don’t be crazy…you know you did it at least once. No?…ok, maybe it was just me. Don’t judge.
- At the end of the call yell in the receiver (Music Tag, You’re It!). Yes, I said YELL. It’s just more fun that way…to make someone’s ear bleed, lol.
- See if they can figure out the song and done.
- If you get the voicemail from someone else…follow up with them and tell them what song it was.
- Then, Music Tag someone else 🙂
Silly game, yes. Fun, absolutely!
Round one: (waiting on answers)

So what is runcing, you ask? Well…I’m happy to talk about it. And since my co-workers are also making fun of me for it…I thought why not blog about it.
It all started about a year and a half ago when I decided to lose some weight. I got a treadmill and started to run. Obviously listening to music at the same time. Well..sometimes I would feel the beat a little more than usual and so I would match my pace to it or shake it a little while I ran. I never really thought about it until I started to run outside and thought….people must be wondering if that girl is mentally correct?? I’m having fun and if you’re judging me then you’re obviously not having fun! Why run when you can run/dance?
The point is to shake it to the beat of the song, match your stride with the song and keep moving. Sometimes you run fast, run slow, side-to-side or skip…but definitely shake it entirely when you feel the need come over you. I guarantee (ok, I can really guarantee that but you get my drift) that you will burn more calories in one run and have more fun then you would have being self conscious and running boring-style.
A little over a year ago I was going through a very hard time in my life and my marriage. I didn’t feel like I could talk to anyone yet about it all because I was still deciding my own feelings about the situation. To help cope with all the emotions and to find relief from the stress I ran…literally. I got on the treadmill and started to run, turned up the music and ran. I was able to drown out the voices in my head and focus on me. Running made me feel strong, capable, and clear. I knew who I was when I was running. It is such a pure activity…you can’t be someone else, you can’t lie to yourself, you just run.
While I was up at night with the baby I found a blog through Twitter stalking people [lol] and that person, Bethany Joy, was participating in something called Tread on Trafficking. It caught my attention and I started to read what it was all about, Love146. The organization raises money to stop child sex trafficking. The videos are hard to watch but worth it. I believe this organization is so important and vital for children’s, girl’s and women’s rights. No one should have to experience what these people do.
So…I kept running but for another reason, to raise money. I came in at the tail end of the fundraiser so I didn’t raise too much. I want to change that this year. It is 8 weeks long and starts May 1st. If you are so inclined, please donate here. You can donate, per hour or per mile or a specific amount, your choice.
**Fun Fact – This is also how Runcing was born…shakin it on the treadmill to my Reggeton station on Pandora.
